If a victim makes the payment, the fraudster either invents a series of further
fees for the victim to pay or simply disappears. The scam typically includes
promising the victim a big share of a big sum of cash, in return for a small up-entrance cost, which the
fraudster claims will be used to obtain the massive sum.
In alternate for help, the scammer promised to share money with
the sufferer in exchange for a small sum of money to bribe prison guards.
Different variations include the Spanish Prisoner scam and the black cash scam.

There are lots of variants of the template letter. One variant of the scam could date again to the 18th or 19th century, as
a really comparable letter, entitled "The Letter from Jerusalem".
